Biography

Areas of emphasis: teacher professional development, mentoring and coaching of pre-service teachers, Social Studies education and global citizenship education.

Shane is a former Social Studies department head, provincial curriculum lead writer, and author of multiple Social Studies textbooks and teacher resources. With a B.A in Geography and MSc. in International Planning, Shane completed his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Washington with a focus on teacher orientations towards global education curriculums. He has worked extensively with field-based models of teacher education, including the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Teacher Residency program, as both a coach and instructor.  His current research interests include the framing of mentor teachers as teacher educators, the professionalization of teacher education programs, and the emergence of the cosmopolitan teacher in Social Studies education.
